How to distinguish PU leather from genuine leather
PU leather is a kind of imitation leather, an artificial synthetic leather material. Different from real leather, it is mainly made of cow and pig second-layer skin as the basic raw material, and is made by using a special lamination process to cover the leather surface with a polyurethane facing layer. PU transfer leather, with genuine leather texture.
Let’s teach you how to distinguish PU leather from genuine leather.
1. Touch: Feel through touch. The surface of genuine leather is smooth (except for the leather that is processed into coarse grain), elastic, soft and plump. The surface of PU leather is generally dry and has no elasticity, but it does not rule out that some are well-made. It will be soft to the touch. The surface gloss of PU leather is oily.
2. Observation: ① Genuine leather is made of animal fur. There will be many non-standard pores and patterns on the surface. The texture will not be repeated and there will be obvious differences when pressed by hand. The pores of PU leather after pressing are smaller, the state is uniform, and the texture is single. ②PU leather has a layer of textile as the base plate, which is used to increase the tensile strength; there is no textile on the reverse side of genuine leather. ③When you touch the back of the genuine leather, it will feel moist, and the fur tissue is messy but soft; the back of the PU leather is dry and feels hard.
3. Smell: The smell of genuine leather is a warm smell of animal hair, which is strong but not pungent; PU leather has a pungent smell of plastic.
4. Experiment: ① The smell of ignited genuine leather is similar to the smell of ignited hair. You can twist it into powder with your fingers; PU leather will produce a pungent smell when ignited and will form pimples after burning. ② The genuine leather will absorb quickly after dripping water and has a moist and soft feeling; the PU leather will appear on the skin and can be wiped off by hand without affecting the epidermis.
The differences between the two can be clearly distinguished from the above points.
