Let’s take a look at the difference between PU leather and artificial leather
PU leather is polyurethane, and its full name is poly urethane. Although PU leather is synthetic leather, it is different from artificial leather. The difference between the two is mainly reflected in three aspects.
1. Production process
PU leather is a kind of artificial leather with cowhide fibers. The cowhide here does not refer to real cowhide, but the leftovers of cowhide. It is made by mincing cow leather scraps, adding polyethylene materials and re-laminated them, and spraying chemical materials on the surface or covering it with PVC or PU film.
Artificial leather is made of woven or non-woven fabrics, foamed with different formulas of PVC or PU, or coated with films.
2. Performance characteristics
PU leather has good folding fastness, almost the same as genuine leather, and has excellent temperature resistance and mechanical properties. It has good leather feel, high tear strength and peel strength, and good environmental performance.
Artificial leather comes in many colors, has good water resistance, neat edges, high utilization rate and low price.
3. Application fields
PU leather is mainly used in the manufacture of clothing, shoes, bags, vehicles, car seat cushions, car floor mats, furniture, sofas, leather backrests, beds, etc.
Artificial leather is mostly used to make various leather products.
So the two are still different.
